Books

Book Dash books are created by creative professionals who volunteer their time and expertise at Book Dash events. These events happen three times a year across South Africa. If you want to get involved as a volunteer creative, see our “How to Get Involved” page.

All our books are made by a team of three: a writer, an illustrator and a designer, working together with a support team of editors, technical directors and art directors. The twist? They have just 12 hours to create a beautiful, African storybook for all to read and enjoy.

Anyone can freely read, download, translate, print and distribute these books (under a Creative Commons Attribution licence). If you do reuse anything from these books, please credit their creators and include a link to bookdash.org.

You can also read our books on an Android device with the Book Dash app.
