Book Dash Stellenbosch, 13 April 2019

Applications for this event have closed. The books will be available on site from May.

Cape Town, Winelands and Overberg creatives, are you ready? Applications are open! Help us on our mission to make sure that every child owns a hundred books by the age of five.

On a single Book Dash day, volunteer creative teams work fast to make beautiful African children’s books that anyone can freely access, print and distribute. All our books are made in 12-hour sprints by creative professionals who volunteer their time because they believe in our vision. To date, we’ve published 117 books this way, and printed and distributed over 400 000 copies to children across the country.

At this Book Dash our challenge to the teams is to make books for babies aged 0-2 years old. This is the Comrades of creativity and we’d love you to join us!

Our next event is kindly sponsored by the Make An Immediate Difference Foundation and the Do More Foundation and will take place at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography on Saturday the 13th of April 2019.

Applications close on Sunday 3 March 2019. No late applications will be accepted. This is a volunteer-based event, and no one gets paid for their participation on the day: the books are our gift to the world!

To participate, you’ll need to be a creative professional. There’ll be a little prepwork before the event, but most importantly, you need to be available from 9am to 9pm on Saturday the 13th April. You HAVE to be able to be physically present for the entire time on the day, this is not negotiable. You will also need to get yourself to and from the venue in Stellenbosch on the day. We provide lots of good food and drinks to keep you going throughout the day! Our aim with Book Dash events is to attract great creatives from the surrounding area. However, applicants from further afar are welcome to apply as long as you are able to arrange and cover your own transport and accommodation.

In the application form, tell us about yourself, and your experience writing, editing, designing, or illustrating. You will apply as an individual, but can request to work with a friend, provided you are both successful in your applications and apply for different roles within the team.
