Book Dash 17: Virtual, 15 May 2021

Our seventeenth Book Dash will be taking place online in May this year and a selection of talented, generous creatives will join us to make beautiful new books in a 12 hour sprint, and help us ensure that every child owns a hundred books by the age of five!

Applications to take part in the event are now closed. Keep an eye out for future calls on our social media pages or by signing up to our newsletter.

Please note that applications are now closed.

If you are a creative professional, or a top notch amateur (writer, illustrator, designer or editor) interested in joining this creative 12-hour marathon, please complete this form. The event is 100% virtual: from your own workstation, with your slippers on and wearing pyjamas if you feel like it, you will be collaborating with other Book Dash creatives living all over and Africa to create beautiful new books for children aged 0-5.

Please note that this is an application process, and not a guarantee of participation. No late applications will be accepted. This is a volunteer-based event, and no one gets paid for their participation on the day: it is our gift to the world!

After the event, we’ll translate, print and distribute copies of these books to children for free, in line with our vision that “Every child should own a hundred books by the age of five.”

This event is made possible by the IBBY-Yamada Fund, a project of IBBY, the International Board for Books for Young People. Thank you to IBBY South Africa for nominating us, and to all who are making it possible for us to make beautiful new books!

Follow us on social media for more information. We’re at @bookdash on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
