On Saturday, 27 October 2018, 40+ volunteer professionals gathered at Streetlight Schools in Jeppestown to create nine beautiful, new African storybooks in just 12 hours, to address the lack of access to culturally relevant books for young children in Africa. The event was generously sponsored by the Otto Foundation, who is also one of the sponsors of Streetlight Schools.
Supported by Book Dash facilitators, editors, and lots of food and coffee, these incredible volunteers manage to complete a process that would usually take months. The best part? Everything created on the day is their gift to the world, and all the books produced can be read right here at bookdash.org. All the stories can also be downloaded, adapted, printed and shared in any way. Just remember to credit the creators, and link back to this site. Book Dash also commits to translating and printing these books, that are then given away for free to children who need them.
